RSC™ Philosophical & Practicing Framework

RSC™ staff and consultants work to provide 11-13 year olds and their parents/caregivers the social emotional skills (as foundational intra- and interpersonal relationship skills) that they can use across every setting in which they find themselves, and across their life course.

We will be utilizing the Cultivating SEEDS System® (CSS®) as the philosophical and practicing framework for this RSC™.

Cultivating SEEDS System®

CSSⓇ is an organizing framework that uses social emotional competencies (SECs) and the social determinants of a person’s life course to explain human behavior.  It does this by identifying culturally responsive approaches (the RUMERTIME Process™) that influence and transform lives and communities.

RUMERTIME Process™

The RUMERTIME Process™ is a five step social-emotional, problem-solving strategy that helps persons move from a position of inter and intra-personal imbalance to balance and from unconscious to conscious living.

Staff to Child Ratio

RSC™ maintains a minimum 2:6/7 (staff to child) ratio during the program. There is a director and program coordinator on site each day. Two RPICs will have no more than six/seven children. We are intentionally choosing to have a small number of participants because of the intense nature of the social emotional wellness intervention work that each family will be engaged in during this two week period. Our goal is to provide teaching and coaching on a small group and family unit basis.

Clinical Contact Hours & Supervision

All staff meet with the clinical directors and Camp Director on a daily basis throughout the 2-week program for supervision, reflection and planning.

Graduate Students & Interns – train in evidence-based interventions and accrue over 50 clinical contact hours!  Hours are supervised and may count towards practicum or internship or licensure.

THE RUIN OF A NATION STARTS IN THE HOMES OF ITS PEOPLE

BE AN ADVOCATE! BRING FAMILIES TOGETHER!

SPONSOR A FAMILY

TO

THE RUMERTIME SUMMER CAMP(RSC)!!

Here is the story of a RSC 2019 sponsor:

Here is why my family has sponsored two families for the RSC 2019?

Dear Potential Sponsor:

This is our family’s story about why we have chosen to sponsor two families for the RSC™ 2019. We were desperate for social emotional wellness tools to help us as parents and to help our daughter.

“My nine year old daughter was speaking of anxiety and stated that she didn’t feel like she mattered.  She said, “I don’t think anyone will even miss me if I am gone.” My husband and I didn’t know what to do, we tried telling her that she did matter, that we love her, that everything we do is for her, but somehow that didn’t help her.

After trying numerous strategies we found a two week program that promised to “fix” our daughter.  Throughout those two weeks we were not included in the treatment planning while our child was receiving services; nor did we receive any tools to work with our child once she completed the program. Two weeks later and $10,000 poorer we still didn’t know how to help our daughter, nor did we have any further insight into the root of the anxiety and issues of feeling insignificant.

I found out about the RUMERTIME Process™ and was coached in using it. The RUMERTIME Process™ has given me tools, skills, and strategies to help me look at myself and how my own unresolved trauma, internal conflicts, and social emotional imbalance influences my child’s anxiety and our relationship. We have been using the RUMERTIME Process™ now and we are seeing improvements in our parent-child relationship; I see growth in myself and my social emotional imbalance and I feel less overwhelmed because I have tools to help me be a better parent and my child is benefiting from it.  I absolutely support this RSC: Social Emotional Wellness Program™. Be a DISRUPTOR! Bring families TOGETHER!

 Yours Rumerizingly, BLS

Who am I Sponsoring?

You are sponsoring families(11-13 year olds and their parents/caregivers) in your community who are experiencing social emotional challenges such as

  • anxiety,
  • Unexplained sadness
  • poor self-image,
  • unexplained school failure,
  • self-esteem related issues,
  • other school age related issues (especially middle school transition issues),
  • motivation issues,
  • social media related insecurities,
  • suicidal thoughts and considerations,
  • self harm,
  • parent/caregiver-child conflict,
  • other social emotional challenges that do not require medications of any type.

How will my sponsorship help a family?

The RSC™ is a two week (five days/week) social-emotional wellness program for families seeking to improve relationships in their homes, schools, and communities. The RSC™ aims to build and empower children(11-13 year olds)  and  parents/caregivers through teaching and coaching social emotional skills.  Families will be taught simple and long-lasting social emotional skills which each of them can use at home, school, and in the community.

As parent/caregivers and children practice and learn these skills during the ten days of the RSC™ they will begin to see growth and changes in themselves and  their child; as well as changes in the relationship between their child and themselves.

Why does my sponsorship matter?

“The ruin of a nation starts in the homes of its people.”  This African proverb is ringing through in homes all across these United States and more specifically the Hoosier state-Indiana.

Indiana has the highest rate in the US of teens who considered suicide. Forty-eight percent of Indiana children receive free and reduced lunch. About 24% of children in Indiana has experienced two or more adverse childhood experiences. One in five children and one in five adults in the USA have experienced some form of anxiety or depression.  Thirty-three percent of these individuals will not receive any mental health treatment.
For every 700 individuals in Indiana there is only one mental health practitioner.  Families with insurance are waiting on average six to seven months to obtain mental health treatment.  Parents/families are feeling overwhelmed and ill-equipped to deal with their own social emotional imbalances and even more desperate and un-prepared to handle those of their children.
What does my sponsorship cover?

It cost $3,159.00 per family. This fee includes full camp tuition for one family(parents/caregivers and 11-13 year olds)

  • Anxiety assessments
  • Depression assessments
  • Social Emotional Skills assessments
  • Self-Concept assessments
  • RUMERTIME Growth and Development Plans
  • Cultivating SEEDS System workbooks, activities
  • Masters and PhD level Coaches
  • RSC supplies
  • Snacks, fruits, water

By sponsoring a family you are investing in your community.  As families acquire the social emotional skills needed to function healthily, they become better children, parents, students, workers, employees, and citizens.

What Is the focus of the RSC™?

The RUMERTIME  Process™ is a five step social-emotional, problem-solving strategy that empowers and inspires individuals as they move from intra and interpersonal imbalance to balance and from unconscious living to conscious living. Using the RUMERTIME  Process™ to Equip Families(parents and children)to Renew their Minds, Transform their Lives and Create safer Communities. Equipping  families(parents/caregivers, children)  with the social emotional skills to enhance parent-child relationships in the home. Equipping parents(families) with the healthy MARKERS™( Mindsets, Attitudes, Relationships, Knowledge, Emotions, Resources, and Skills/Strategies) to help themselves and those in their family unit for whom they are responsible.

Increasingly, parents are feeling ill-equipped to help their children with their mounting, complex social-emotional(SE) needs. Conversations and interactions are tense, superficial, and many times damaging. In the meantime parents are becoming acutely aware that their own unresolved SE issues are playing a major role in creating barriers to safe and healthy interactions.  Consequently, Children are learning unhealthy ways of relating to themselves and others, which shows up in homes, schools and other places. For parents it shows up as a sense of inadequacy and inability to parent adequately, perform on their jobs optimally, and relate with  partners and other significant people effectively. Parents are saying that their own SE issues get in the way of their relationships with their child(ren). They desperately want to learn ways to Recognize, Understand, Manage, Express and Reflect on their Thoughts, Interactions, Mindsets, and Emotions(RUMERTIME™) that will  proactively enhance the relationship with themselves, their child(ren) and vice versa.  They crave tools to help  with their own SE wellness so they can help their child(ren) with their SE wellness. Parents are crying out for an integrated, culturally responsive, relatable and accessible intervention that allows them to apply foundational strategies of SE skills across diverse settings.

With your sponsorship to the RSC/ GC SCORED, Inc. you will receive:

  • Photos and testimonials from our families who attended and successfully completed the two weeks.
  • Advertising on our website.
  • Your name added to RSC™ t-shirts, bags, website, etc. (Some sponsors may want to remain anonymous to the families, that is understandable).

  • A thank you letter from our families!

As we are a 501(c) 3 non-profit all donations to the Global Center for School Counseling Outcomes, Research, Evaluation and Development(GC SCORED, Inc.) are fully tax deductible.

What happens after the RSC™?
At the conclusion of the RSC™, parent/caregiver-child relationships will show signs of growth and development, children’s knowledge of social emotional skills will increase, and parent/caregivers will leave with a better understanding of their child’s challenges and ways to effectively RUMERIZE™ themselves and their child that will help them renew their minds, transform their lives and create social and emotional safe spaces at home.  Additionally, parent/caregivers will receive a summary of their child’s progress at the RSC™, and specific RUMERTIME recommendations may be provided. We look forward to staying in touch with you and your family beyond the summer.
